Im Philippa, Owner/Photographer and everything elser of Pink Elephant Photography. Im a Wedding photographer based in Tewkesbury, covering Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds....and actually anywhere in the UK and abroad!
Enough about me.....
After what seemed like a long time coming Danni & Jonni finally got married at the most stunning wedding venue, Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham, if you have never been there i seriously recommend you go, its full of charm and hidden amongst the cotswold countryside, it really is a treat.
I asked Danni & John a few questions about there day
What made you choose your venue?
We really wanted to get married in our hometown of Cheltenham, and Ellenborough Park is in the most beautiful countryside setting while still being close to the town. The building is stunning and we fell in love with the venue as soon as we arrived. From the sweeping driveway, beautiful views and gorgeous Cotswold stone, we knew it was the perfect venue for our day.
What was the theme / style of wedding and why did we pick it?
We wanted to keep our theme very natural, simple and rustic, so chose wooden centre pieces with simple lavender, decorated jars and tea lights. The main colour was lilac. We had artisan dried flowers for the bouquets, hair pieces and button holes to keep in with the more rustic feel, which we felt really matched the Cotswold stone of the venue too.- Flowers by The Artificial Flower Company
What made you fall in love with your dress?
The dress I chose was actually the first I tried on! When I went into the shop, the owner suggested she pick something for me first and we go from there – but she got it bang on straightaway! However the dress was nothing like what I’d initially imagined. I went in thinking I didn’t want a train or a veil, and ended up with a veil and a very long train! I felt special in the dress right away and knew it was ‘the one’. - Dress by Martina Liana
What was your biggest worry regarding the day and how did you overcome it?
With COVID-19, our biggest worry was whether our wedding could actually happen! And we did end up getting married on our third date due to postponements. However when it was announced that step 2 of the lockdown easing could go ahead from April 12 th 2021, we started to feel excited at last for our May date. Other worries were just about minor things like had we picked enough decorations, would we trip over going down the aisle, would the speeches go on for too long – however after the uncertainty with the pandemic, it gave us a lot more perspective on the smaller worries.
What was your stand out moment of the day?
We were both quite nervous about the ceremony itself, however we really enjoyed this part of the day, being able to say our vows in front of our closest friends and family. Seeing the groom’s face as I came down the aisle was really special too. We can honestly say that doing our couple photographs with Philippa was actually really fun too! We hadn’t expected to enjoy this part of the day so much but it was nice to have half an hour where it was just us as a couple messing around in front of the camera –Philippa made it feel so easy!
Any advice for future couples?
During the build up to your wedding, well-meaning friends and family will inevitably have lots of opinions about what your day should be like. Our best advice is to go with your gut – set your budget and use it on the things that really matter to you as a couple.
